For my third and final Be Interested post I chose to discuss a TV show that is extremely popular right now: Black Mirror. My first time watching an episode of Black Mirror was actually in my English 2000 class two semesters ago. Our professor showed us an episode to spark our imagination for the creative writing class. Black Mirror is a series of stand alone episodes, each having a different plot that explores a high-tech, dystopian society. I definitely recommend the series. There are endless plot-twists and dark underlying themes that keep your eyes glued to the tv. Since every episode has a completely different plot, you are free to jump around, watching episodes in whatever order you desire. The episode that I found the most captivating was based around a machine that allowed you to view someone's memories. An insurance agent who was trying to get the details of a car accident in which a pedestrian was hit used the memory-viewing device. She went around interviewing everyone who witnessed the incident, but one particular witness had much more to hide. I won't spoil the episode, but Black Mirror is a show that encourages deep thought. It is scary to think of the possibility that the future could be so sinister.
